Waiting for the Spring Burst
Today's Daybreak Note is a favorite from the archive, from this time nearly exactly last year, as the season of spring tiptops up again.
Good morning, dear!
One of my favorite days all year is the day when spring pops.
All of a sudden, after months of naked trees, bare to the sky, their hibernating limbs all scraggly and scrawny — the leaves burst free.
The tiny buds rocket out. The leaves dot the branches. The woods are alive again with green.
And oh. That green. That magnificent green. It seems fantastical, too bright and light to be real. Every where you look, branches are bedecked in a certain vibrant, herbaceous glow.
I particularly love how fast it all seems to happen. One day, the landscape is tight with the stripped-down isolation of winter. The next day, the trees are tossing green out like confetti.
Have you seen spring burst already where you live?
If not, and if you are in a land where spring does arrive with triumph, let's wait for it together. Study those barren, gray trees. They are so stoic, so silent about their secret.
Hidden in them is spring and all its greenery and finery, an exquisite reminder that the seasons of our lives do change. Always.
With love,
Brianne
